GPT-6.1 Terra and Terra Pro are now in FastMetal chat
GPT-6.1 Terra and GPT-6.1 Terra Pro, which OpenAI released on October 26, 2026, are now available in FastMetal's chat. Terra is the mid-tier model of the GPT-6.1 line, priced well below GPT-6.1 Sol. Terra Pro is the same model running in its "pro" reasoning mode, and it costs a lot more per question than its per-token price suggests.
What it is
- Built for high-volume work. OpenAI describes Terra as "a fast, efficient model for high-volume professional work," with strong image analysis and computer use. On OpenAI's own production benchmarks it performs on par with its predecessor, GPT-5.6 Terra.
- A 1,050,000-token context, enough to hand it long documents in one go.
- Reads images and PDFs. Before launch we confirmed on real requests that it names what is in an image and reads the text printed in a PDF.
- Answers Japanese in Japanese, as well as English.
- Your prompts are not used for training. We confirmed both Terra and Terra Pro answer with training use declined.
Pricing: about half of GPT-6.1 Sol
| Per 1M tokens | GPT-6.1 Terra / Terra Pro | GPT-6.1 Sol |
|---|---|---|
| Input | $1.10 | $2.11 |
| Output | $5.50 | $10.55 |
Repeated context, such as conversation history, is cached and billed at $0.055 per 1M. Prompts over 272K tokens bill at $2.20 input and $8.25 output. Against GPT-5.6 Terra ($2.11 input, $12.66 output), input is roughly half and output is under half. Prices can change, so check the model page and pricing for current rates.
Terra Pro: same rate, very different bill
Terra Pro bills the same per token as Terra, but every request carries about 1,390 prompt tokens you never sent. Sending just "say ok" counted 8 prompt tokens on Terra and 1,396 on Terra Pro. Pro also writes more output tokens.
On a one-word question asked in Japanese ("What is the capital of Japan? One word."), Terra cost about $0.00005 and Terra Pro about $0.0006: more than ten times as much for the same answer.
So use Terra for everyday questions, summaries and translation, and save Terra Pro for hard problems where the extra time and spend buy a better answer.
How to try it
- Create a FastMetal account.
- Add credit.
- Open chat, pick GPT-6.1 Terra or GPT-6.1 Terra Pro from the model list, and ask. You can attach images and PDFs.
Billing is prepaid, so you never spend more than you have loaded. That matters most with a model like Terra Pro, whose cost per question is hard to predict.
Compare real answers first
